Uganda, the Nile & a Full-Circle Moment

Hello from Uganda! šŸŒ

Remember last week when I mentioned we were heading out on our next adventure and I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to write? Well, I’m thrilled to say: I’m here, and I’m writing to you from Uganda!

For the past several days, I’ve been part of a team bringing medical care to communities in need in what some have called a ā€œforgotten country.ā€

Before we left, I was asked to write about what called me to take this journey. That reflection took me on a walk through time—and I thought I’d share a little of it with you.

Not because my story is extraordinary (it’s probably not), but because it reminded me how many roads can converge to bring us exactly where we’re meant to be.

Let’s hop in the way-back machine…

✨ Thirty years ago
I craved adventure. I dreamed of seeing the world—even taking a cruise on the Nile. But I didn’t go.

✨ Twenty years ago
I was a single mom, raising my son (my life’s greatest blessing). It was tough—but I wasn’t alone. I had the love and support of family and friends around me.

✨ Ten years ago
I met the man who is now my husband and favorite travel partner. Together, we've explored more of this amazing world than I ever imagined possible.

✨ Five years ago
I returned to school to pursue a childhood dream: becoming a nurse.

✨ Last year
My dear friends from 20 years ago asked me to join them on a mission trip to Africa—to serve others as a nurse (and cruise the Nile).

And here I am. Full circle.

In the coming weeks, I’ll share more stories and reflections from this beautiful corner of the world. But today, I just want to leave you with this:

Never give up on your dreams.

Sometimes, our dreams need time. They need to simmer quietly on the back burner, waiting for the right moment and all the right ingredients to come together perfectly.

So keep dreaming, wanderer.
Keep growing. Keep going.
And trust that the path you're on is leading you somewhere amazing!

Until next week…
with gratitude and wide-eyed wonder,

Your travel dream cheerleader and fellow wanderer

šŸ½ļø Wandering with a Fork in Hand Ciao from Malta, Reader! We just wrapped up an unforgettable 3-week, 3-country adventure — Uganda, Italy and Malta — and while the views, people and places were amazing… I’ll admit, I had one big worry before leaving:What am I going to eat?
