Looking for a Wild Getaway? Here Are 4 You’ll Love.
After the medical mission portion of my recent trip to Africa, our team had the pleasure of experiencing the natural beauty of Uganda on safari!
🦒 We went on a walking safari where we saw a tower of giraffes
🦛 We took a Nile cruise where we saw hippos, elephants and crocodiles along the river banks
🐒 We went chimpanzee trekking through the rainforest, and
🦁 We went on a game drive through the African savannah where we saw four of Uganda's Big 5 game animals: lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo
Cape Buffalo on the savannah in Uganda
Did you know that the fifth animal of the Big 5 - the rhinoceros - was hunted nearly to extinction in Uganda? Now, the only place you can see them is at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary & Wildlife Ranch where they are working to increase the population with the hope of reintroducing rhinos to the wild someday.

Going to Africa and going on a real-life African safari was even more incredible than I imagined...
Making eye contact with the giraffes who seemed almost as interested in us as we were in them was spectacular.
Watching the graceful and agile antelope run across the savannah was beautiful.
And laughing at the brashness of the baboons who thought they owned the roads was just plain fun!
Hello there, I see you! 😊
If now's the time you want to start exploring the possibility of planning your own African safari adventure, you'll find lots of great information in our latest blog post, including:
What to consider before you go (safety, vaccines, travel visa)
Why I recommend Uganda
Recommendations for beautiful places to stay
And suggestions for different safari adventures
If Africa feels too far away for right now, but you love the idea of an up-close-and-personal wildlife experience, consider a wildlife adventure right here in the U.S. (yep! they do exist 😊👍🏼)
If you're on the West Coast, check out Safari West in Santa Rosa, CA. My aunt and I took their tour several years ago and I can confirm it's a lot like the game drive I just took in Uganda - only close to home. Think open-air jeep ride, wild animals and wide open spaces.
Or, what about a half-day sunset safari through Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole, WY? This one I haven't done, but a friend was just telling me about Jackson Hole and it sounds spectacular!
Or... for something completely different, but still wild, how about an airboat ride through the Florida everglades? You won't see zebras, moose or bears, but you may see alligators, turtles and other creatures who live there. (My son and I did this awhile back and it was fun!)
Want to know more about the wild adventures mentioned above to decide if they're right for you? Hit "reply" to this email and send me your questions. I'm always excited to hear from you and totally willing to share more about my experiences.
Until next week, stay wild!
✈️ Your fellow wanderer, full of wild adventure.

Seven moments that shaped our travels Welcome to November, Reader! With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we’ve been reflecting on all the things we’re grateful for (and there are so many!). In the spirit of the season, each week this month we’ll explore a theme of gratitude and share seven things we’re thankful for. This week’s theme: Hospitality. Traveling, whether across the world or just across town, often changes us in quiet, lasting ways. Looking back on our journeys, the hospitality...
Behind the scenes at Wander for Days Happy Monday, Reader! Lately, we’ve been working behind the scenes on the Wander for Days blog. And, as a result, some of our activities have taken a backseat. But, there’s another trip on the horizon (think fall beach getaway) that we can’t wait to share and exciting new things coming soon that we want to give our Wander for Days family a sneak peek at... Right now, my desk is covered in half-finished ideas: Sketches for a digital travel passport...
Small worlds, big lessons from travel Happy Monday, Reader! Sometimes the best travel stories don’t start with a plane ticket — they start with a meal, a stranger and a moment of connection. This week’s story is a little different, but I think it’s worth the read... Last week, we had one of those chance encounters that left us talking long after dinner — about connection, kindness, and the real gift of travel. One thought led to another… and, well, here we are. 🌎 Small World It started at a...
