From Someday to Suitcase: the Art of Planning a Trip

Let’s try something fun this week — a quick poll!

This week, I'm deep in planning mode — and that’s exactly what our latest blog post is all about:

Years ago, I came across a quote that stuck with me:
"Tourists want to escape life. Travelers want to experience it."

Todd and I almost always fall into the traveler category — and our next adventure is no exception.

Over the weekend, we sat down to iron out the finer details of what may be one of our most logistically complicated trips yet:
✈️ Multi-city flights
🚗 Car rentals
🚆 Train tickets
⛴ Ferry passes

Being the detail-loving planner I am (😍), I opened up my trusty Excel spreadsheet. Each trip gets its own tab — with confirmation numbers, addresses, times, costs, and links to potential spots to explore.

Now that all the pre-planning is done, we can relax and dream about that first step off the plane in a brand-new destination.

My travel tip of the week?
💡 Plan the logistics ahead of time.

You don’t have to schedule every moment (I recommend you don’t!) — but getting the big pieces in place means you can focus on the fun stuff when you're there. For example:

  • How are we getting there? Already sorted.
  • Where are we staying? Booked!
  • What should we do today? Let’s check our list of ideas 😍

Want to see how we plan our trips and some of the tools we use?

Plan well — and enjoy the experience,

Kind words exhibit (as seen in Denmark)

Small worlds, big lessons from travel Happy Monday, Reader! Sometimes the best travel stories don’t start with a plane ticket — they start with a meal, a stranger and a moment of connection.
