Cue the Mix Tape — It’s Road Trip Time 🎶

If you don't know where you want to go...
How do you know where to start?

I'm glad you asked. :)

Start at the beginning...

Ask yourself these questions:

  • How much time do I have?
  • What's my budget?
  • What kind of experience do I want (e.g., relaxing at the beach, adventurous hike, the lights and sounds of a city)?

And then, ask around... Maybe talk to your friends or family members who have been to some cool spots. Or ask everyone's all-knowing friend, Google.

For example: "I want to go on a road trip from Indiana."

Google: "Here are 20 great road trips from Indianapolis."

And you know what? Google had some pretty great suggestions!
(The cities with an * are ones we've been to)

  1. Put-in-Bay, Ohio*
  2. Pigeon Forge, Tennessee*
  3. Milwaukee, Wisconsin*
  4. Dayton, Ohio
  5. Parke County, Indiana
  6. Adventures on the George - Lansing, West Virginia
  7. St. Louis, Missouri*
  8. Springfield, Illinois
  9. Holland, Michigan*
  10. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania*
  11. Owensboro, Kentucky
  12. Cincinnati, Ohio*
  13. Madison, Wisconsin
  14. Nashville, Tennessee*
  15. Door County, Wisconsin
  16. Louisville, Kentucky*
  17. Quad Cities, Illinois/Iowa
  18. Fort Wayne, Indiana*
  19. Indiana Dunes National Park*
  20. Columbus, Ohio

Then pick one and head over to expedia.com to book a hotel. That's it! With a destination in mind and place to stay, all that's left is to pack your bags, grab some road trip snacks, fill up the gas tank and then...

Road trips are great because they can be long or short, well thought out or spur of the moment. A road trip can be inspired by a specific activity or they can be purely spontaneous, inspired only by a Google search.

Some random things that have inspired our best road trips have included:

  • a Kenny Chesney concert in Boston
  • an antique grand prix race in Pittsburgh
  • a baseball game in Minneapolis
  • a COVID-safe hike in the Smokey Mountains of Gatlinburg
  • and an Indiana State Park challenge

Along the way, we found other things to do and places to see that will forever be treasured memories.

So, where do you want to go?

Be open to opportunities and be ready for the time of your life!

We'd love to hear your ideas. Reply to this email and let us know where you want to go. If we've been there, we'll share some ideas that might inspire your trip. If we haven't been there, maybe you'll inspire ours! :)

Happy wandering...

Small worlds, big lessons from travel Happy Monday, Reader! Sometimes the best travel stories don’t start with a plane ticket — they start with a meal, a stranger and a moment of connection. Last week, we had one of those chance encounters that left us talking long after dinner — about connection, kindness, and the real gift of travel. One thought led to another… and, well, here we are. 🌎 Small World It started at a...
